Colorado Fireworks Tournament Updates

TEAM CHECK-IN for 2008: Monday, June 30th from 8:00am-4:30pm (Aurora Sports Park "B" Complex), all teams must be checked in by the 4:30pm deadline .
MANDATORY COACHES MEETING for 2008: Monday, June 30th at 5:30pm, Hotel Denver Tech (Doubletree) - 7801 E. Orchard Rd, Greenwood Village. The mandatory coaches meeting is not intended to inconvenience anyone. While the coaches meeting is independent of the team check-in, it is intended to provide a venue in which important information may be passed without the distraction of check-in activities.
New Players Party in 2008: Tuesday, July 1st from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Amazing Jakes (1400 S. Abilene, Aurora). This years players party has been upgraded and moved to a venue much more condusive and fun for players and coaches alike; AMAZING JAKES! Amazing Jakes provides a variety of activities; go karts, bumper cars, climbing wall, laser tag, min-golf and a games pavilion. Amazing Jakes will be closed to the general public for the exclusive use of 2008 Fireworks participants. Meals will be provided for players and coaches at no cost. Tournament Tee's will be on hand as well as a photographer to help capture the event. All amenities, excluding the games pavilion (tokens must be purchased for electronic and video games), are available to 2008 Fireworks participants at no charge. Participants are limited to players and coaching staff. Any additional attendies must pay an entry fee (TBD).
2008 Radisson SE 4th of July CO Fireworks entry forms are on the web site now (please make note there are two different ones you will need to fill out). This tournament is an ASA registered invitational tournament. Dates for the 2008 CO Fireworks will be (Wed.) July 2 through (Sun.) July 6, 2008. Once again at least 50% of roster must be 2008 or 2009 grads (for 18 under teams) and 2010 or 2011 grads (for 16 under teams) in order to be eligible to particiapte in the Fireworks. NO player that has attended a 4 year college is eligible to play in the senior (18-under) division of the tournament. Practice games will be offered June 28 (Sat.) through (Tues.) July 1 for 16-under teams and 18-under teams. Mandatory Coaches Meeting and Team Check-In is on Monday, June 30th and Players Party will be Tuesday, July 1. NFCA exposure camps will be held Tuesday, July 1 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The 2008 NFCA exposure camps will be TUES., July 1 from 8:30am-4:30 pm, check their web site, for an on-line application that is necessary to use for registration. We have a link on our web site to the NFCA web site.
Practice games will be offered Sat, Sun, Mon, & Tues, June 28 - July 1. Cost is $65/game. The practice game schedule & the pool schedules will be posted on the web site by May 20, 2008. The practice game request is on the web site & are being accepted February 1 to May 1, 2008, with form & fee being sent only by Regular US Mail to address provided on the form. Teams need to be sure of their travel plans (arrival dates & times) as well as which of their players that will not be available to play practice games due to enrollment in the NFCA exposure camps Tuesday morning & afternoon (8:30am-4:30pm depending upon position camp signing up for).
NO person (2007 grad) that was enrolled in a 4 year college will be allowed to participate in the 2008 tournament. We are hoping that this change will allow for more girls to be seen & signed to scholarships. All 2008 (spring) high school grads that have signed to play in college for the 2008-09 season ARE eligible to play in the 2008 CO Fireworks.
Teams are reminded of the roster deadline to be entered on the team page on our tournament web site by May 15, 2008. Please include the most recent information about ACT/SAT or PSAT scores & GPA (based on a 4.0 system - if they are on a different system please indicate that or if GPA is a weighted one). Team pictures are due by May 20, 2008.
College coaches are reminded to register for a tournament packet from January 1 to June 1, 2008. The hotels and car rental agencies we are using are listed on our web site in the 2008 Tournament file on the bottom of the screen. Check with Naomi of the Chamber of Commerce for the best deals (303-344-1500) on the hotels. There were almost as many coaches who did not register as who did. This makes it difficult for us to provide you with a coaches packet. Please register by May 1st so that we can provide the most information to you and to include you school in the list of schools that are attending the tournament.
